To Love Myself and You

To Love Myself and You is a very heartfelt triptych that looks at the lifespan of a human relationship. The swirl of passion that hearkens the arrival of intense connection and the overwhelming sensation of sameness, of being truly seen. As all things must change, in order for the relationship to endure, that early passion must learn the existing boundaries of each other. We go through a sometimes painful but always transformational process of decoupling into an understanding of the differences that makes each uniquely us. The connection is no less beautiful, but the complicated dance of feeling that must continue to negotiate with each other and the world exist in this colorful plane, weaving and colliding continuously in chaotic, but sometimes discernible fashions. The name, “To Love Myself and You” is a reference to the quote attributed to Prentis Hemphill, “Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously” from their book, “What it Takes to Heal.”
